1. 虚拟语气用于宾语从句

wish后的宾语从句：若要表示与现在事实相反的愿望，从句谓语用一般过去时（be动词用were）；若表示与过去事实相反的愿望，从句谓语用“had +过去分词”；若表示将来没有把握或不太可能实现的愿望，从句谓语用“would +动词原形”。如：

I wish I were a bit taller.

I wish I had brought a map with me.

I wish you would listen to your teacher’s advice.

would rather后的宾语从句：表示愿望或尚未发生的动作，从句谓语用一般过去时（be动词用were）；表示与过去事实相反的情况，从句谓语用“had +过去分词”。如：

She will get home at dinner time, but I would rather she got home a little earlier.

He got drunk last night. I’d rather he hadn’t drunk so much.

在suggest, advise, order, command, demand, request, require, insist, desire, urge等表示建议、命令、要求、坚持、愿望等的动词后的宾语从句中，谓语动词用“should +动词原形”，should可以省略。如：

The teacher suggested that we (should) make good use of every minute.

He ordered that all the book (should) be sent at once.

She insisted that she (should) go to the south for her holiday.

注意：

①当suggest表示“暗示，说明”，insist表示“坚持说”时，从句谓语用正常的陈述语气。如：

His smile suggested that he had succeeded in this exam.

Tom insisted that he hadn’t stolen the watch.

②suggestion, advice, order, request, insistence等后的"that从句中，谓语动词也用虚拟语气，即“should +动词原形”，should可以省略。如：

His suggestion is that we (should) do our work more carefully.

2. 虚拟语气用于定语从句

在It is (high / about) time后的从句中，谓语要用过去式。如：

It’s time we went to bed.

It’s about time you made up your mind.

It’s high time you lent her a hand.

3. 虚拟语气用于简单句

表示对过去事情的懊悔时，谓语用“should + have +过去分词”。如：

You should have returned the money to Mary.

表示“祝愿”时，常用“may +主语+动词原形”。如：

May you have a good journey!
